Sukhothai "The Dawn of Happiness."

On Saturday the 27th April 2002, Sukhothai Restaurant opened its doors in the heart of Chapel Allerton village, providing an authentic Thai taste experience, combining authentic Thai food with comfortable surroundings.

Head Chef and owner Ban Kaewkraikhot really knows Thai food. Ban successfully ran her own restaurant in Bangkok for 8 years, which quickly established its self amongst the Bangkok locals as a firm favourite for quality and value. In 1997 a successful Leeds restauranteur approached Ban to be the head chef at a well known Yorkshire restaurant. After 4 years working here, Ban decided she wanted to be her own boss again, and the search started for suitable premises

Ban said “I am really looking forward to welcoming guests to my new restaurant. It has always been my dream to bring the true tastes of Thailand to the UK.”

Sukhothai, the name chosen for the new venture, is Ban’s birthplace, and is approximately 100 miles north of Bangkok. Sukhothai, when translated into English, means the Dawn of Happiness, and is considered by many Thais to be the first capital of Thailand, where many of the countries political and democratic policies were drafted.

Great care and much thought has been given to ensure that a comprehensive range is available to cater for all tastes. Ban is full of original ideas and concepts, which we hope are reflected in our extensive menu. Many new dishes have been introduced, all of which are cooked using traditional methods and techniques.

The perfect Thai meal is a harmony of different tastes, and is based on the flavours of spicy, sweet, sour and salt. These flavours are blended in different ways to give a wide variety of tastes.

All meals can be cooked according to the customers’ preferred taste (mild to very spicy). Thai food is unique. Please don’t imagine that it’s Chinese with a bite - if you are new to Thai food or an experienced Thai food lover, the Sukhothai menu will be sure to have the right dish for you.

The restaurant itself has undergone extensive renovations, with the pre requisite that comfort and ambience are paramount and food is prepared and cooked using only the finest ingredients combined with the expertise and traditional skills of speciality chefs. Why not come along and sample the Thai experience for yourself?

Please note we are a completely non smoking restaurant.
